CoverGrrlz had a wonderful time returning to rock the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts on August 27!

We hit the stage at 10:30 am, and the weather couldn't have been better--the sun was out and it was cool and comfortable up there on the stage. The crowd was great and enthusiastic, as we rocked our way through two sets of fine Rock n' Roll.

The Palo Alto Festival of the Arts hosts artists of so many walks of creativity, from paintings to sculptures to pottery... and on a side street that they have Italian chalk art, drawn during the festival. These transient works of art are simply amazing.

Thank you all for coming out to the festival and rockin' with us! It was GREAT to see some of our tried and true South Bay fans, including our very own "stray" Kat Velour and family!

We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Thank you Palo Alto!

And thanks to Casey for sharing this iPhone-video clip!

Morgan Hill Thursday Street Dance!

Tuesday, 16 August 2011 00:00

The day was sunny and balmy--a welcome respite from the bay-side cycle of fog that has plagued the summer just a few miles to the North--and that made it a perfect night to be playing music out-of-doors in the twilight! And so it was for the CoverGrrlz, as we returned to Morgan Hill's Thursday Street Dance to electrify the town with our special recipe of rock and roll!

This evening series of outdoor concerts brightens up the downtown area and brings out the local residents to shake their tailfeathers to the sounds of all sorts of different music. Of course, we were serving up a heaping platter of Rock Hits with Glitz, and with the crowd hungry for even more, we doled out an extra portion at the very end with one last tune... :-D We like encores!

The crowd was enthusiastic and energetic, and we had a great time playing and watching the dancers, from toddlers to seniors, cutting a rug and enjoying the evening.

We also were privileged to work with the Thursday Street Dance's fabulous production crew, who made everything sound terrific for both the band and the audience, and were extremely helpful.

Thanks to all the friendly Morgan Hill folk who came out and brightened our day! We hope we brightened yours, as well.

Join the CoverGrrlz on Saturday Morning, August 27 at the 30th Annual Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, and start off your day with some rockin' sparkle and a smile!

We're proud to once again be one of the bands that will be entertaining at the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, and we aim to get your feet a-tapping and your voices sing-a-longing as we roll out the Rock and Roll at 10:30 a.m. on the Main Stage (at Waverley Street). So grab your favorite hot morning cuppa and trot on over for some good-time Rock and Roll! We can't wait to see you there!

The Palo Alto Festival of the Arts is an amazing display of creativity, with three hundred fine artist booths all along University Avenue. The artists at this festival include some whose work you’ll see only at a few select shows on the West Coast. Also be sure to have a look at the Italian Street Painting Expo where amazing chalk artists create larger-than-life works on Tasso Street. There's also a Kids’ Art Studio for the young ones, as well as gourmet food, wine and beer to enjoy as you stroll down the street.

So come on down Saturday morning for a great time out in Palo Alto--and some fine, fine rock and roll from The CoverGrrlz!

San Anselmo Art & Wine Fair!

We had a fantastic time at the San Anselmo Art and Wine Fair, breaking out the new, revamped Rock Hits With Glitz machine, and introducing our new lead singer Jules to the world.

San Anselmo Art & Wine Fair

The day started early for us, we arrived on location about 9am and began to set up for an 11:00 start. The day started out overcast with calm winds and mild temperatures, which was most excellent for our set-up. Before noon the marine layer burned off and glorious sunshine flooded the streets of San Anselmo, making for an even more festive feeling.

We tried some new songs, and some new fun, like recruiting a percussion ensemble from the audience and having them help us out on K.T. Tunstall's "Black Horse and Cherry Tree" song. Thank you to all our volunteers!
