Mewow, Babys!
I’m often asked where my name, Kat Velour came from……….
My day job took me to L.A. for a couple of years and I worked in a healthcare company. As many companies do these days, we had casual Fridays, where we could strip out of our business casual and slip into comfy old denim. On this particular Friday, denim wasn’t cutting it for me. Instead, I pulled my brown paisley velour pants out of the closet. So soft and comfy. I was looking forward to a very cozy day.
I had a meeting with my boss and the CEO and some other execs that morning. I was waiting outside of the meeting room, when the CEO came up and said, “Hey are those velour pants?” I said that they were and he asked if he could touch them. All very innocent and not creepy at all. So I lifted up a leg and he touch the material on my knee. Seriously very innocent.
We proceeded into the meeting with execs in person and some execs on speaker phone. The CEO proceeded to say to the group, ” Hey has everyone seen these velour pants?” Then he turned to me and said, “Have you ever heard or seen the movie Cat Ballou? You should be called Cat Velour” And the rest is history………..
I recently saw the link for Cat Ballou and just got the DVD to watch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_Ballou
While I go for the sequins and sparkles these days, I do still have my namesake pants!
And the rest, my friends is history!

So just curious!
Where does a Grrl get great GLITZ to wear??????
EBay is good, but where else? And, I’m talking sequins, rhinestones, glitter, shiny, tight, sexy, yet functional. Grrl has to keep “the girls” in line whence jumping around on stage!
What say you???? Boyz feel free to respond as well!

So far 2008 is pretty exciting!
New Drummer - Hello Tymber!
New Pictures - Hello More Glitz!
New Tunes - Hello Black Sabbath, Foreigner, Babys, Tom Petty, Ramones - Hello - Hello- Hello!
It’s all very exciting and as the Grrlz know, when Kat gets excited it is quite a sight! Like when I kept getting waves of excitement while we were competing in KFOX’s 98.5FM - Last Band Standing contest this past October ‘07 or when we play one of my absolute favorite tunes by the Babys - Head First. Its so strange. I’ll be fine and then have a thought of doing Head First and a rush of giddiness comes over me and I want to burst outta my skin.
Maybe this is the definition of Passion? Maybe it’s the definition of Bliss? Whatever it is - More, Please!
So, the Grrlz are working hard, playing hard and rocking hard! If you haven’t seen the Grrlz, this is definately the year to do so! Cannot wait to return to Vinnie’s in Concord on April 12th. Most excellent venue and people to party with! Come on out!
